Dancing the Night Away in Ocean, New Jersey
Jennifer and Matt’s wedding at The English Manor in Ocean, New Jersey was the kind of wedding that made our job easy. From the getting ready moments through a packed dance floor, the entire day was relaxed, energetic, and genuinely fun. Jennifer brought so much personality to the day—she was bubbly, easygoing, and always ready to have a good time—and that energy carried through the entire celebration.
Matt got ready at his brother’s house before heading to The English Manor. Getting ready photos are some of our favorite opportunities to capture the people and personalities surrounding the couple before the wedding officially begins. There’s usually a mix of anticipation, nerves, joking around, and plenty of candid moments, and Matt’s morning was no exception.
The groom's brother officiated the wedding. The ceremony struck a great balance between heartfelt and lighthearted. There were emotional moments, but there was also plenty of laughter and personality. There are often small moments happening all around the main event—a quick reaction from a family member, a laugh between guests, or an expression that might otherwise be missed. Those moments help tell the complete story of the wedding day.
On The Dance Floor
Once the reception started, the energy really picked up. The live band kept the dance floor busy, and guests were clearly ready to celebrate. The colorful lights across the dance floor created a fun backdrop for the reception photos, adding even more movement and energy to the images.
A big part of our approach as wedding photographers is simply paying attention. We don't want to spend the reception directing every moment or pulling people away from the party. Instead, we watch what's happening and step in when it makes sense. Some of the best wedding reception photos happen in a split second—a great expression, an unexpected dance move, friends laughing together, or a particularly energetic moment that only lasts for a few seconds. For Jennifer and Matt, those candid moments resulted in photos that are colorful, silly, energetic, and completely representative of their wedding day.
The English Manor was a great setting for this celebration, but ultimately, it was the people who made the photographs. Jennifer and Matt's wedding was full of personality, and the photos reflect that.
